Size measurements

  • Straight shape with island

Requires a longer and wider space than a simple straight kitchen. The island adds significant counter space and can incorporate seating or appliances. Allow at least 3 to 4 feet of clearance around all sides of the island. The overall length can vary considerably depending on the size of the island, but generally requires a space of 12 feet or more in length and at least 8 feet in width.

  • L-shaped

A versatile layout suitable for medium to large kitchens. It utilizes two adjacent walls, creating a more open feel and improved workflow. Each side of the "L" should ideally be at least 8 to 10 feet long to be functional.

  • L-shaped with island

Ideal for larger, open-plan kitchens. The island enhances the workspace and often serves as a focal point. Be sure to leave at least 3 to 4 feet of clearance around all sides of the island. The "L"-shaped sides should ideally be 8 feet or more, with additional space to accommodate the island. The total space often requires a base area of at least 10 x 10 feet, but larger is usually more comfortable.

  • U-shaped

Offers ample counter and storage space, ideal for medium to large kitchens. It utilizes three walls, thus surrounding the cook. Each cabinet section should ideally be at least 8 feet long for practicality, allowing for comfortable movement within the "U" shape. A minimum width of 8 to 10 feet is generally recommended for comfortable use.
